Adding files for use by the bot in selfless.chat
The selfless.chat platform allows files such as images and videos to be uploaded directly into the admin interface. These files can be used by the bot during conversations, enriching automated responses with visual content.
How to add files
File upload is done directly through the platform.
Step 1: Log in to your selfless.chat account and select the chatbot you want to configure.
Step 2: In the bottom-left corner of the dashboard homepage, next to your username, click the gear icon ⚙.
Step 3: Go to the Files section.
Step 4: Click Upload file. Select the images and videos stored on your computer that you want to add.
The file name cannot be changed after uploading. If you need to replace the file content, you must delete the original and upload the new file with the correct name.
After uploading, each file receives a unique link that the bot will use to send the content during a conversation.
How to use uploaded files in conversations
Once a file is added, you need to copy its link so it can be used by the bot. This link can be used in two main ways:
- Direct use in the recipe: the file link can be inserted directly into recipe blocks. This method is recommended when dealing with a small number of files. To apply this type of adjustment, you must contact selfless.chat support to ensure proper implementation.
- Use via spreadsheet: if you have a larger number of files, you can organize the links in a spreadsheet that will be used as a knowledge source. The spreadsheet must be prepared in advance with links correctly mapped to the relevant information, then submitted to selfless.chat support so the technical team can configure the database.
Recommendations
- Plan file names in advance, using clear and standardized naming.
- Avoid accents, spaces, or special characters in file names.
- If handling a large volume of visual content, keep the links organized in spreadsheets.
- Always contact support to align the use of files within recipes or knowledge sources.
